About Mark L. VanBuskirk


The Law Office of Mark L. Van Buskirk is a civil litigation firm that focuses on providing prompt and personalized legal services. Mr. Van Buskirk aggressively advocates a client’s position in mediation, arbitration or litigation and he represents clients in a manner that gains confidence and trust.  Each client is kept informed about the client’s matter by regularly reporting the status of the case, by updating each client with the latest legal developments, and by working with each client to achieve results in the shortest period of time.


Before starting his own firm, Mr. Van Buskirk was a partner in a Southern California civil litigation law firm that specialized in personal injury litigation, employment litigation, business litigation, professional malpractice litigation and class action litigation. Over the 18 years he was with the firm before it disbanded, Mark was responsible for a wide range of cases, including personal injury, employment, business, professional negligence and consumer class action cases.


While working full-time as a Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Van Buskirk began attending law school at night (four year law school program).  Mark attended Michigan State University’s evening law school program between August 1993 and May 1995, receiving the following honors: Class Ranking: 1st out of 120 students; Dean’s List; The Rodney Martin Lockwood Memorial Award; and The Distinguished Alumni & Memorial Scholarship Award.


In May 1995, Mark transferred from Michigan State University College of Law to Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles in order to be closer to family.

Between May 1995 and May 1997, Mark completed his legal education at Southwestern Law School, receiving his Juris Doctorate in May 1997, graduating cum laude and with honors. Mark became licensed as an attorney in California in December 1997.


Prior to his legal career, Mark practiced as a Certified Public Accountant, auditing and reviewing the financial statements of various companies in a broad range of industries including financial institutions, home builders, property management firms, manufacturing firms, retailers, non-profits and state-wide government retirement systems.


Mark graduated in 1984 from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and, after receiving his undergradure degree, was initially employed as a stockbroker with Kidder, Peabody & Company.
